Nike has been around for decades on decades continuously changing an evolving to create their own fashion sense. The Nike Brand isn’t new to the women athletic apparel department however, now they are about to up their game. They have now created Nike Plus Size Apparel ranging from XL -3X. There is a common misconception that women who are plus size (or, over size 16) don’t workout or care about their health. Nike wanted to show just how untrue that is. By expanding their apparel line to fit the thicker size woman it will bring confidence to the women who haven’t always been able to find comfortable workout clothes. We are all familiar with Nikes’ slogan ‘Just Do It’ an I am glad they have taken on that approach an chose to expand to the plus size women audience. In a quote from Elle.Com a spokeswoman for the brand stated, “Nike recognizes that women are stronger, bolder and more outspoken than ever. In today’s world, sport is no longer something that she does, it’s who she is. The days where we have to add ‘female’ before ‘athlete’ are over. She is an athlete, period. And having helped fuel this cultural shift, we celebrate these athletes’ diversity, from ethnicity to body shape.” They chose Grace Victory and Danielle Vanier to bring the photoshoot for the Ad alive. These two women are giving confidence, sexiness, an are ready to workout. Nike couldn’t have chosen a better duo to represent the brand. With other brands an companies like Sports Illustrated bringing the plus size world to the forefront with models like Ashley Graham it won’t be long before the plus size are the ‘go to’ models for events like NYFW. Although there fashion designers an modeling agencies that welcome plus size women not many get to hit the runway in huge events like New York Fashion Week. 2017 is looking like the break out year for the plus size world, and I am looking forward to it.
